Patti Strand

 

Patti is an internationally recognized animal issues expert. Her articles and views on animal welfare, public policy and animal rights have appeared in a wide variety of trade, professional and scientific magazines and lay publications, ranging from the Los Angeles Times, USA Today and the Washington Post to the AKC Gazette, Veterinary Forum, Wall Street Journal and the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. She’s been a guest expert and panelist on dozens of radio talk shows including National Public Radio, the BBC and CBC; TV news shows including NBC, ABC and Fox News, and has been a featured speaker at conferences for zoos, state and national veterinary groups, physician groups, lab animal scientists, kennel clubs and federations; and agricultural, hunting and humane associations.

 

Patti has worked as a volunteer lobbyist since 1991 in numerous states.  She has prepared testimony,

delivered testimony in scores of venues, researched and analyzed policy issues, developed materials for

print and broadcast campaigns, prepared talking points for media and legislative campaigns.  She has

prepared talking points for media and legislative campaigns.  Patti regularly participates in print

and broadcast interviews about animal issues and rallies grassroots allies to participate in legislative

and media campaigns.      

 

Patti has served on numerous animal welfare and animal control advisory boards and state and federal committees and task force bodies.  Patti is often credited as the architect of the anti-animal rights extremist movement.

Author of numerous articles on dogs and animal issues including:  co-authoring the 1995 book, An Owners Guide to the Dalmatian; and the 1992 book, The Hijacking of the Humane Movement:  Animal Extremism, which was the first book published in the US exposing animal rights extremism.  Source book on the subject, featured at the 1993 National Conference of State Legislatures as a key resource for understanding contemporary animal issues.
