Dr. Linda Arndt
Linda Arndt, Professor Emeritus,
Canine Nutritional Consultant and owner of Blackwatch Great Dane
Kennels, has devoted 34 years to breeding and exhibiting Great Danes
(and a few Pugs). She has produced champions in conformation
and obedience and co-bred dogs with the famed Phil and Jane Gray of
Owlwatch Kennel, Muncie, IN.
Linda has focused her dog career on
researching nutrition and it's role on the cause, effects and
reversal of developmental orthopedic disease in large and giant
breeds. Through research and feed trials, she has developed
comprehensive feed programs to help prevent disease and promote
wellness and longevity.
Linda managed the National Bone
Disease Survey in Great Danes, which involved over 5,200 cases of
veterinarian diagnosed developmental orthopedic diseases (HOD, Pano,
OCD), and managed feed trials on puppy growth, independently and for
holistic dog food manufacturers.
Her research with the National Bone
Survey, 1989-1994, also tracked vaccine reaction in dogs and that
information helped to raise awareness that led to the vaccine
research at Purdue University.
In addition, Linda was involved in
interdisciplinary grants which researched the effect of Phyto-Nutrient
and Co-Enzyme-Q-10 supplementation on canines. She worked with
Dr. Eugene Wagner, Professor Emeritus and former Director for the
Center for Medical Education for IU Medical Center at BSU.
Linda has lectured for many breed and
all-breed clubs and has written extensively for numerous breed and
pet health care magazines.
Linda concentrates her efforts on
writing, seminars, lectures, and assisting with nutritional
questions for owners, breeders, trainers, veterinarians, and dog
food and supplement manufacturers. Her educational website
includes specific feed programs and nutritional articles for all
breeds and is one of the most popular websites used by top breeders
worldwide.
